INSTALLATION AND STARTUP GUIDE FOR
NIGHT WATCH - PC ACCESS CONTROL
(NWATCH)
VERSION 1.0
INTRODUCTION:
Night Watch keeps unauthorized persons from using your personal
computer by requiring entry of a valid User ID and Password. Night
Watch allows you to define a personal User ID and Password for each
person who is authorized to use your computer. In addition, the
program maintains a complete log of all successful and failed
attempts to gain access to your computer. A screen saver is included
so that you can run Night Watch any time you are away from your
computer.
This guide covers installation and startup of Night Watch Version
1.0. The complete User's Guide is built into the program and is
accessed by selecting the "HELP" option. In order to get the most
benefit from this program, we strongly suggest that you read the
user's guide.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
Night Watch Version 1.0 requires an IBM Compatible PC, DOS 3.1 or
above, a hard disk and 640k of RAM memory.
INSTALLATION (From Distribution Disk)
The program, data, and help files are contained in a self extracting
archive file named NWATCH10.EXE. To extract the contents of this
file and install them on your hard disk, place the distribution
diskette in drive A and type the following commands:
A:
INSTALL C
You may install the program from the B drive by substituting "B" for
"A" in the above and you may install the files to a hard drive other
than C by substituting the appropriate drive letter for "C" in the
above. (Note: there is no colon (":") following the hard drive
letter in the install command).
After entering the install command, all files will be installed in
the root of the designated hard drive. Be sure to designate your
startup hard disk drive (almost always "C").
INSTALLATION (From BBS DOWNLOAD)
If you downloaded Night Watch from a bulletin board or other data
service, you will have already extracted all files from the ZIP or
other archive file you downloaded. Copy all NWATCH.* files from
their extracted location to the root directory of your startup hard
disk.
